Land Use Survey

Introduction

The settlement/shopping hierarchy says that a market town should sell mainly low order, convenience goods. For example everyday goods such as groceries. The settlement/shopping hierarchy also states that a market town should have small chain stores and superstores. For examples nationally recognised stores but in smaller premises than you would expect in a larger settlement.

Using the settlement/shopping hierarchy as a guide you will attempt to find out how many convenient and comparison stores Beverley has and whether it fits the settlement/shopping hierarchy. You will also try and determine how many small chain stores and superstores Beverley has and whether it fits the settlement/shopping hierarchy. You can cross reference this information with the research you did onm the internet. If both techniques produce the same results then you can be more certain of your conclusions.
