Scenario:
You have been asked to plan and create an animation for the Recycle GB website. Recycle GB is a new, national company that has been asked to co-ordinate household recycling for the whole country. Recycle GB is working with local councils to provide every house in the country with the following equipment:
• a black recycling bin for general household waste
• a green recycling bin for garden waste and cardboard
• a yellow box for tins, plastic and glass
• a green box for paper.
Recycle GB wants their website to perform the following functions:
• to inform people what they should recycle in each bin/box
• to encourage people to recycle more of their rubbish
• to involve young people early so they are more environmentally aware
• to seek feedback from people about the website and how it could be improved.
Recycle GB wants to create a high impact website and want an animation to make the website look professional. They have asked for an animation which could be included in the site which would do one of the following:
- Show people what type of rubbish goes into which box/bin
- Encourages people to recycle more of their rubbish
- Make young people aware of one or more environmental issues
You will be required to research some existing examples of animations used on web pages before planning and creating your own. You will then present your work to Recycle GB before they place them on their website.
The animations you create do not have to be created from scratch – you may use some ready-made components and adapt them to suit your purpose. You are going to be studying Unit 2 (Webpage creation), you will use the animation you produce in the website you will design for Recycle GB. You will need to bear this in mind when designing and constructing your animation.
